A day before the first performance for the Bulgarian audience of the world-famous Cirque du Soleil Amelie Hamel and Galabina Kamenova visited “Slavi’s Show” and shared what it’s like to travel around the world with one of the most popular and loved companies.

“Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984 by a young troupe of performers who were invited to make a show in Canada dedicated to the sun” – explained Amelie. The success of the first show was followed by a series of performances and worldwide fame. Currently 5000 people work in the circus and its annual revenues are over $600 million. The performances of the circus have been watched by over 100 million people in over 300 cities on six continents. “In most cases people are very welcoming, we feel very happy, but it really depends on the culture. Normally we feel very welcome in each city” – shared proudly Amelie Hamel.

Slavi told his guests he first saw the show Cirque du Soleil on television while he was in a hotel in the capital of the Dominican Republic: “I saw a performance which looked amazing. I was shocked that it’s possible to look at circus art in such a way.” Amelie said that every show of the circus is unique, different and always based on inspiration and emotion, which it brings to people around the world. “We feel very privileged to be here in Bulgaria. We have lots of costumes, lots of equipment, lighting… we have about 300 pieces, which include headpieces, shoes” – explained the guest the size of the show.

The Bulgarian Galabina Kamenova said she feels great in the troupe, “Cirque du Soleil had an audition in Bulgaria three years ago, I auditioned, they liked me and a few months later they called me with a job offer. Before that I had trained gymnastics for 11 years and jumping on double mini trampoline for 4 years. However, as far as I know they are looking not only for acrobatic, but artistic talents as well in the people they work with.” Galabina takes part in two acts of the show – “Russian swing ” and “Chinese Poles”. Slavi didn’t miss the opportunity to offer his artistic portrayal in the circus program: “I can play a Chinese pole.”

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Bulgarian audience can see the show “Saltimbanco” which is famous for its splendor and artistry. Its name derives from the Italian “saltare in banco” literally meaning “to jump on a bench” and symbolizes life in the big cities.
