Music Idol 1 is a Bulgarian music television show based on the original concept of British production Pop Idol owned by the company FremantleMedia and carried out in about 100 seasons under different names in over 40 countries.

Music Idol 1 was first aired in Bulgaria in March 2007. Auditions of the first season of Music Idol were held in five of the biggest Bulgarian cities: Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv and Sofia. Shortlisted candidates went to the Theater castings in Sofia where the jury chose 40 candidates. At the Small concerts all 40 participants were divided into five groups. Viewers had the opportunity to vote and choose their favorites who went to the Big concerts. Each week the selected 12 performed one song on a theme set by the jury. The participant who collected the least viewer votes left the race.

Teodor Koichinov and Nevena Tsoneva reached the finals of the first Music Idol on June 4, 2007. Nevena won 64% of viewers vote and became the first music idol of Bulgaria. The award which she won was a contract with Virginia Records and a trip to London, where she met with representatives of Universal. Several weeks later she recorded a duet song with Slavi Trifonov “Fierce” which became a hit.
