The legendary hip-hop group Cypress Hill began their visit on “Slavi’s Show” with a performance of their iconic 1993 hit “Insane in the Brain”, which earned them a nomination for the prestigious Grammy Awards. Early in the conversation vocalists B Real and Sen Dog and percussionist Eric Bobo politely rejected Slavi’s proposal to become a member of the Cypress Hill playing the viola.

The musicians grew up in the street “Cypress Avenue” in Los Angeles and did not expect that hip-hop will bring them this kind of success: “However, there was always a magical feeling when I was with my band – it was like for us there has always been a bigger purpose, that we met and we are together.” So far the hip-hop legends have sold over 20 million albums.

Years before the great success of Cypress Hill B Real and Sen Dog were members of one of the street gangs of Los Angeles. Sen Dog clarified that the experience of the membership in this band made a huge impact on their music: “The fact that we were part of a street gang for several years really helped us become musicians, because we lived the message.”

Eric Bobo said he met Cypress Hill in 1992, when Sen Dog and B Real opened a concert of his former group – the Beastie Boys.

B Real spoke about the four years spent with the sex symbol Carmen Electra: “It was great. She was a lot of fun and a cool person, with a great sense of humor.” After the breakup with Electra, the rapper met his wife – a social worker in California, with whom they have a one-year old daughter. B Real also has a 24-year old son. “I was a teenager and I didn’t know what I was doing,” he said.

B Real revealed that one of his favorite places in the world is the Netherlands, where he likes enjoying the red-light district and the liberal laws regarding the habits of Cypress Hill. In 1995 B Real had a special dragon tattoo made to remind him of the time spent in Amsterdam.
