Bond arrived with a new viola player and a new album in Bulgaria

March 20, 2012

The best-selling string quartet in the world Bond arrived in Bulgaria to appear on “Slavi’s Show”. The sexy girls who combine classical music with electronic and pop sound performed for the viewers of the show the song Diablo – the first single from their new album Play.

“This is my new studio! Do you see my escalator? Very special, like a mall… I am like a product” – with these words Slavi welcomed his guests in a language which he himself described as “animal English”. Since 4 years the Bond girls have a new member after Haylie Ecker left the band to devote herself to being a mother. “Haylie left in 2008, she moved to Hong Kong. She got married, had a baby and went to live in Hong Kong,” said Tania Davis, first violin of Bond. It turned out that the cello player Gay-Yee Westerhoff gave birth to a boy 10 weeks ago but is already playing at concerts of the quartet around the world.

Eos Chater, second violin, shared that unlike most bands there are no disagreements in Bond among the members: “We are very big friends. We are lucky because we love to do concerts together. We have fun, music is fun for us.”

The new member of Bond is viola player Elspeth Hanson. “We saw Elspeth at the closing ceremony of the last Olympic games. She was playing the violin, on her one side was David Beckham, on the other – Jimmy Page. Leona Lewis was singing. Elspeth looked great on TV. We saw her and said – we need her!” explained Gay-Yee. Elspeth herself feels very happy in the quartet: “This is a dream job, they are amazing, very kind. I loved their music before I joined them. This is the best job you can get – as a girl and as an artist.”

It turned out that hair is one of the barriers for Slavi to play the viola in Bond so the girls offered him a wig. The new outfit tested by the host made Godzhi liken Slavi to Beethoven.

Slavi shared that Bond’s first appearance on the show 11 years ago is of special significance for him: “At that time no one believed we could do a show every night, and only when you came on the show and we made a great show with you, people believed we will do a show every night and will invite international stars.”

After their appearance on the show Bond are going to Mexico next but they will return to Bulgaria after a month for a big concert in NDK Hall 1 on April 25 from 20 pm, which is part of their European tour.
